July 25 – 26: In this 2 day class, explore watercolor and discover the possibilities with a variety of water-based media such as pencils, crayons, and paints to develop your personal expression and imagery. You may work from your own photographs or from still life set-ups. The instructor will provide demonstrations for all mediums. Lim encourages her students to explore and combine various mediums while using the principles of composition, value, color and space.
Award-winning artist L. C. Lim uses her creative spirit to compose images that reflect the profound beauty of nature and our earth. Lim received her degree from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and works in Philadelphia and northern Michigan. A recipient of many distinguished awards, her work appears in the University of Michigan Ross School and Dow Chemical collections, as well as numerous private collections. She regularly exhibits her work in Philadelphia and northern Michigan

Friday, July 26, Time: 9 am – 12 pm
$10 materials fee payable to instructor for: Watercolor paint (red, blue, yellow & white) water-soluble crayons and pencils, student grade paint brushes, 90 lb. watercolor paper, a still life to paint from. If you are a complete beginner, you will be able to work from the materials I bring.
Supplies you should bring:
Ideas for the images you want to make. e.g Sketch book and / or Photographs
Any other colors of tube watercolor paints you may want to use. From the ones I bring you can get most colors, but sometimes it is not exactly the shade you wanted. Winsor Newton is a brand that has a good selection.
Heaver weight watercolor paper if you know you like to work on that.
Something to take notes on.
Some type of surface to tape your paper to. Foam core board works well as does any other smooth non flexible surface.
Paintbrushes if you already have your own and don’t want to use the student grade.

We understand that your plans might change. If they do, notify the GAAC office as soon as possible. Requests for cancellation by the student at least thirty (30) days prior to the first day of the workshop will be honored (minus a $20 processing fee). NO REFUNDS will be given for a student cancellation made less than thirty (30) days prior to the first day of the workshop.
