July 8, 9, 12: Are you looking for an art adventure? Art Rangers is the perfect choice for the young artist who wants to explore a multitude of mediums in a supportive and encouraging environment. Art Rangers will have the opportunity to paint, draw, sculpt, invent, print and more. Each week will be filled with new and exciting projects. Join us for one session or all summer long! Campers will leave with an overflowing portfolio sure to inspire continued curiosity.
GAAC’s Art Camps will bring unique visual arts opportunities to artists 6-12 years of age under the backdrop of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. All classes will be held in the park at the picturesque Thoreson Farm studios and will include all art materials. Instructors will help campers foster natural creativity, self-expression, art technique and a genuine FUN time!
Sarah Cheek-Toomey is new to the area having moved from Kalamazoo to Empire in the fall of 2017. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education with a minor in Visual Arts from Michigan State University. She has spent the past fifteen years in public education; most recently teaching elementary art while also serving as the Art Coordinator for Kalamazoo Public Schools. She earned a Master of Science in Ecological Teaching and Learning from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA in 2007 that enabled her to combine her passions of art education and the environment into her everyday work with children. Sarah looks forward to establishing roots in Leelanau County with her husband and two young children while expanding her personal body of work.
