Art from Michigan’s Wine Country – Friday, February 3, 2012- [more info]
The kick-off to the Leelanau Peninsula Vinter’s Association Taste the Passion weekend takes place on Friday, February 3, 6-8 p.m. at The Homestead in the Mountain Flowers Lodge.
Readers' Theater - Auditions- [more info]

Auditions for the next Reader's Theatre will take place February 15th at 7:00 p.m. at the GAAA. Two short plays will be performed. One is "Scrap of Lace" about a female detective and it will have an all female cast with 7 parts.  The second play will be "The Musgrave Ritual", a Sherlock Holmes story, with parts for men and women.

For those wishing to prepare for auditions, copies of the scripts will be available at the GAAA office Monday-Friday 9:00-2:00. The scripts will be read aloud at the audition.

Rehearsals will be Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. and the performances will be Wednesday, March 21.

Talk About Art - Stephen Kostyshyn Thursday, February 23, 7:30 p.m.- [more info]

 

Stephen Kostyshyn’s hybrid vessels are part clay, part reed and part wood. After working as a studio potter in conventional forms for 16 years, Kostyshyn broke away from “clay-only vessels” to create mixed-media baskets of remarkable aesthetic and technical expertise. Kostyshyn talks about the process and the evolution of his work February 23.

Since her galvanic Mills College commencement address in 1969, Stephanie Mills has been speaking, editing, writing and organizing for ecology and social change. The author of scores of essays, articles and seven books, Mills brings her wit, humor and intelligence to the Art Association March 8.

On April 5, at the Glen Arbor Art Association, Harvey Gordon gives us a preview of new works – as well as a short tour of his long painting life. The paintings of Harvey Gordon are the focus of a solo exhibition at the Dennos Museum Center in April.
